FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you offer discounts? (Educational, Nonprofit, Corporate)

Yes! We have created the Single Production subscription as a discount from the unlimited PRO version. This gives you full functionality to ONE production at a time in your account. Annual subscriptions are also discounted compared to monthly paid subscriptions.

We understand the vast amount of theatre produced by nonprofit or educational institutions so we have strategically priced Stage Write to be affordable.

Subscriptions are based on a single user. For any institution looking to purchase 3 or more user subscriptions, further discounts are available. Fill out this FORM for a quote.

What is the difference between Stage Write and Stage Write for iPad?

The Stage Write platform allows users access all Stage Write features with their subscription via our free iPad app or Web app (in a Chrome or FireFox browser). The data syncs between devices. The iPad DOES allow you to work ‘offline’ - if you are somewhere with a weak wifi signal you can work offline and then sync data when you return to a solid wifi signal.

Stage Write for iPad (our Legacy app launched in 2012), was only available for iPad and works to create charts and staging scores. It does not support new features released in Stage Write such as cloud syncing/web app access/scripts/hand drawn arrows). Those who use the legacy are automatically grandfathered into the new app.

Is there a free trial available?

Yes! Visit our website, click "LOG IN" and sign up for an account (you won’t be charged or prompted for any payment information). Use your account to log in on a web browser or in the free Stage Write iPad app. The free trial account will allow you to test the features of Stage Write before starting a subscription. Any work you have done during the trial period will be available to your account when you set up a subscription.

How many users can use a subscription?

Stage Write subscriptions are single user based. This means that one user can be logged into one place at a time. Others wanting to collaborate or share productions will need their own subscriptions.

What devices does Stage Write work on?

Web App: Stage Write works on most tablet/computer devices (android included!) in Google Chrome or Firefox browsers. Visit our website and click LOGIN.

iPad: Download the free Stage Write app from the App Store and login to your account.

Stage Write for iPad (our Legacy app): Support for Stage Write for iPad discontinued August 31, 2019.

Does Stage Write work with my stage type?

Yes! Stage Write can work for any stage design and size. When you import a ground plan (or create one in the app), you have the ability to work with any stage design you choose.

When you start a subscription, you will also have access to three stage types (proscenium, thrust, round) as basic templates to get you started if you choose, or you can create/import your own.

Why don’t I see the set piece I created?

Did you create a set piece and it doesn’t show up (or shows up like a gray square)? When you give the set piece a dimension, keep in mind that the software will crop the image at the dimension you gave. For example, if you have a set piece that is 10 x 10, the app will capture everything that lies between 0 x 0 (bottom left corner) and 10 x 10 on the grid. Make sure you have placed every part of the image you want to see within those dimensions starting at the bottom left corner (0 x 0).

If you are having trouble finding the pre-loaded Stock set pieces on your iPad, go to Settings on your iPad, then choose Stage Write in the app. Make sure you turn ON the button that says 'Reload Stock Set Pieces'.

How do I change the dimensions of my production?

Once you have set the dimensions of your stage and added any scene or set piece, the production will lock in at the dimension you gave it. If you want to change the dimensions after the dimensions have locked you can either delete your scene list/set pieces so you can edit the dimensions. OR, you can tap ‘Save As/Copy Production’ and choose different dimensions. You’ll give this production a new name and you can choose to either keep the same dimensions or enter new dimensions. This will create a duplicate of the entire production at the new dimension without having to re-do any of your work.

I’m running into an issue with the app, what do I do?

iPad: we recommend closing the app and power cycling your device.

Web: Check your internet connection. Refresh the page. Completely close the browser and then log back in. Empty your browser cache. Double check for unusual extensions/malware/spyware.

Still running into an issue? Email us at office@stagewritesoftware.com. Please include your device, operating system and version and the version of the app you are running.

How can I cancel my subscription?

To cancel your subscription, visit web.stagewriteapp.com using a Chrome or Firefox browser. Log in to your account and select your name and then "My Account" in the top right of the production homescreen. You can then select the cancel button next to the subscription plan you are paying for. Your account will still be usable until the current billing period has ended.

Do you offer refunds?

We have a no-refund policy. Users will be charged monthly or annually according to the subscription they sign up for. Those wishing to cancel their account will need to do so before the next billing period in order to avoid being charged.
